Downtown Streetlights
Re-lighting downtown Silver City was a project requiring a careful balance between the aesthetic needs of Historic Downtown and the requirements of New Mexico's popular Night Sky initiative. MainStreet responded to these challenges with a streetlight project that brought historic acorn-style streetlights back into the district, while reducing light scatter and improving visibility for pedestrians and motorists. These streetlights add to both daytime and night-time ambience of the district. Streetlights were installed on Bullard and Broadway in 2002, and on North Bullard to College Avenue in 2006.
