16th Annual Taste of Downtown
There was great fun to be had this Labor Day weekend in Silver City! Saturday, Sept. 3, from noon to 3pm, the streets of downtown were busy with folks from in and out of town who came out to experience unique cuisine, and fun foods for the Taste of Downtown, while also taking in the excitement of the Mimbres Region Arts Council's first annual Print Fiesta. The 14 locations for the "Taste" offered a wide variety of treats and delicacies from excellent coffees, to savory delights, superb snacks, refreshing drinks, and delightful deserts.
There were bacon wrapped dates from Tre Rosat, Tapas Tree Grill offered their bahn mi sliders, savory stuffed mushrooms were served at Vicki's eatery, and Domino's shared their specialty, pizza and marbled brownies.
Fresh falafel and veggie rolls were served at the Market Cafe, and Little Toad Creek highlighted the talents of their new chef with choice of roasted sweet potato crostini with a whiskey maple syrup reduction topped with pulled pork and chipotle or zucchini ribbon with almond pesto and smoked salmon.
Burgers, Brownies, & Beers, Oh My! shared steak fries and black & tan onion rings, and the Silco Theater featured caramel popcorn. On the sweeter side of things, Millie's Bake House presented their finest cookies, Pretty Sweet Emporium poured a great frozen lemonade or cappuccino, and The Jumping Cactus offered scones, gluten-free muffins and cream cheese tarts.
There was excellent coffee to be had at Yankie Creek Coffee Shop, as well as Javalina's, just around the corner. Some folks shared a ticket, while others took time with their tour and tried a taste of everything!
MainStreet would like to thank Sysco, and our other sponsors for their help and support, as well as all who participated, volunteered and came out to enjoy the Taste of Downtown this year. We had so much fun, and look forward to next year's "Taste". Hope to see you there!
